For the ski enthusiats there are parking spaces next to the lift here
Extra info: checking of weather and the conditions in the winter is required since the only road might be close due to repairs. Winter chains if the road is not cleared from snow might be recommended
The route is a rather unorthodox stroll in the winter since it is going along the ski slopes. Some attention and spacial awareness for the fast descending skiers is required. The route was unfortunately stopped around 2300 m.
The komoot-route requires talking a lift from the village up, but in summer the stroll can be made starting from the base.
Prices for the ski lift: here
Tip: The main road into the village (Talstraße) includes a few blind curves and narrow tunnels where only one car can pass at a time. A quick honk before entering lets oncoming drivers know you’re there — it’s the alpine version of saying, “Hey, I’m coming through!”
entrance in the village
Samnaun is part of the expansive Silvretta Arena, seamlessly connected with Ischgl in Austria. Gliders and skiers glide from one country to another without a passport check.
easy climb up with 2 steep portions; winter equipment is required
Snow is almost guaranteed from late November to early May, thanks to high altitude and extensive snowmaking infrastructure.
Going further up towards Alp Trider Sattel, at 2,490 m, which is a central hub for the Samnaun sector.
From here, you can: access panoramic blue and red slopes that sweep down into Samnaun, drop into freeride zones or link up to high-speed pistes heading toward the Austrian side and enjoy sun-drenched terraces for a coffee break with 360° mountain views.
It’s also the arrival point for the world’s first double-decker cable car, the Twinliner, whisking you up from Samnaun-Ravaisch in just minutes.
Samnaun it’s Switzerland’s only duty-free village, offering the highest elevation shopping street in Europe
